We (Peggy and Christine) birthed World Family Yoga
after our meeting at an Anusara Yoga teacher training
intensive with our teacher John Friend in 2004. Two
inspired, strong mothers and yoginis of like mind and
heart, we bonded, became sisters and hosted our first
family yoga retreat to Costa Rica that very year.
Forty adults and children accompanied us, World Family
Yoga was born strong. For four consecutive years, we
continued to bring families to Costa Rica, at times
with guest teachers - Jeannie Manchester and Casey
Feicht, and one year we were blessed to be joined by
an elder, Grandmother Shirley Khabbaz who led the
families in traditional Native American ceremonies.
You can find pictures in our photo album of most of
these memorable journeys. As the years rolled by and
our children grew, so too did our work efforts. Peggy
opened OM Shala, a gorgeous and thriving yoga studio in her home town, Arcata, CA. Her husband Albo is building them a lovely new home and they are planning a 5 month trip to India with the family next year. In the mean time, Christine and family, traveled and homeschooled for a few years, settled in a small village in Southern Spain for some time as she gained more and more inspiration for her teacher training program, Om Shree Om. Just this past Spring Peggy's family had the great pleasure to venture over to Spain to visit Christine and family.
Today World Family Yoga lives in the hearts, bodies and minds of those who traveled with us and those who visit this site. We do intend to offer more family adventures in the future when we feel the timing is right. Feel free to browse through our site to become inspired to bring families together in sacred ways, as we have and will continue to do. Feel free to see what other work we are doing by visiting our individual pages. Thanks for coming to visit us! Send us an email to stay connected.
Our family yoga retreats allow parents a rejuvenating and uplifting Anusara Yoga® practice accessible to all levels of experience, while the children join together for a playful and insightful yoga session with their new friends.
It is not necessary to have children to join us, but we ask that you love and honor them as an essential part of our global community! We make donations to the areas we visit, often focusing on the needs of children.
